Tango Music of Buenos Aires

The Underground Tango Music of Buenos Aires 10 abril, 2012 Sin categoría No comments Seeing a tango show in Buenos Aires is an essential activity and is at the top of most travellers’ list of things to do in Buenos Aires. Along with going to a football matchand sightseeing the historical monuments and landmarks of this beautiful city, the world’s home of tango has a number of tango shows and tango dinner shows on offer for tourists. However, if you want a modern, off the tourist trail and a true Porteño experience then we have the secret that only the locals know about! Taking place at El CAFF, the unsigned entrance can leave you wondering why you have come to what seems like an abandoned backstreet garage. Inside however, the space opens up to reveal an area home to the modern tango of Buenos Aires. El CAFF is a social and cultural club, founded by the Orquesta Típica Fernández Fierro (OTFF) where spectacular shows, cultural activities and social gatherings take place. The former mechanics garage was turned into music club and opened its doors for the concerts of OTFF and their musical colleagues and friends in May 2004. The mainattraction and must see event is the Fernández Fierro Orchestra. This modern and young orchestra have revolutionized the tango scene with their powerful live shows, their own raw compositions, and ‘‘new tango’’ 21st Century interpretations of classic tango and contemporary authors songs. Tickets El CAFF has three types of seating available with tables for 4 to 6 people (that are shared with other viewers), small stands as well as a standing-only area. Availability of tables is limited so you should buy your tickets in advance as places for many concerts with table locations are sold out well before the date of the concert. Advanced tickets with a discount (ARS$40) can be bought from Musetta Caffélocated at Billinghurst 894 on the corner of Tucumán. The café is open on Mondays (10am to 8pm); Tuesday to Thursdays (10am to 12am); Fridays (10am to 3am) and Saturdays (5pm to 3am). Reserve tickets (ARS$50) by emailing caff@fernandezfierro.com and indicate the artist, date and quantity of people. The reservation is held until the start of the show with El CAFF opening its doors 1 hour before the timetabled show. In the case of reserved and advanced tickets, remember to bring with a copy of the email or tickets and to arrive on time. If you do not manage to get an advanced ticket or a confirmed reservation do not worry! You can buy tickets at CAFF’s box office (ARS$50)that opens 1 hour before the show depending on the availability of tickets. If the tickets to the concert are sold out it will be announced on the El CAFF website. “Tuic” this pretty cat most than a pet is almost part of the show Location and Getting There: El CAFF is located at Sánchez de Bustamante 764 (in between Lavalle and Guardia Vieja) and can be reached by taking one of the following buses: 19, 24, 26, 36, 71, 92, 99, 106, 111, 124, 127, 128, 140, 146, 151, 168, 168 (R90), 180.
